Omachi City is a city in the northwestern part of Nagano prefecture.
It is famous as a side entrance of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine route in Nagano Prefecture. In the western part of the city is a vast northern Alps with altitude 3000m, and mountains near the east.
The Takase River runs through to the north and south of the basin between mountains. In the northern part of the city, three structural lakes, called the three Lake Nishina, are connected to the north and south, and the Itoigawa Shizuoka tectonic line active fault system is believed to be running. It is the only city in the Great North District, and the city functions of the political economy are accumulated.
