Hiroshima City is a city in Japan Hiroshima Prefecture. It is a designated city and is the capital of the prefecture.
Located in the southern part of Chugoku region and western Hiroshima Prefecture (Aki Country), it has the first largest population in Chugoku and Shikoku districts. The south faces the Seto Inland Sea and is the Hiroshima Bay. An urban area is formed on the delta opened at the mouth of the Ota River flowing in the center of the city. The Hiroshima plains are formed around the Ota river delta, but the western, northern and eastern parts of the city are hilly as they surround it.
