Fukuyama City is a city located at the east end of Hiroshima Prefecture and is a core city. Hiroshima Prefecture has a population of approximately 460,000 people, the second in Hiroshima City.
It is also the central city of the bingo metropolitan area, including the well-connected and geographically-historical, Okayama Prefecture Ikasa District. There is a city center in Fukuyama Plain which spreads to the mouth of Ashitagawa which is a source of Yamato town in northern Mihara city. The southern part of the city faces the Seto Inland Sea, and the northern mountainous region is generally formed from the southern tip of the "Kamiishi Plateau", which is 400-500 meters above the Kibi plateau. This is the Oda River basin, a high-beam river tributary pouring into Kurashiki city, Okayama Prefecture.
