Located on the east coast of Okinawa Island south, about 5.6 miles east of Naha City, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, it faces the Kitanakagusuku Bay (Japanese: Nakagusuwan, Okinawa dialect: Chujouwan). The area is 5.02 km ², and is the second largest municipality in Okinawa Prefecture, next to Tonaki village.
