Chichibu City is a city of approximately 64000 people in the Chichibu region, northwest of Saitama Prefecture.
The area is approximately 578km ² and is the largest municipality in Saitama Prefecture. Central area is located in the central part of the Chichibu basin, surrounded by the Chichibu mountains. It is the only city in the Chichibu region. Most of the city limits are designated as Chichibu Tama Kai National Park and the Natural park of Saitama Prefecture, Buko and West Chichibu. Arakawa flows from the southwest to the northeast to form a riverside terrace. A limestone is produced in the Buko Mountain in the southeast of the city, and an open pit is done.
