Yuri Honjo City is a city facing the Sea of Japan located in the southern part of Akita Prefecture. In the city facing the Sea of Japan, the city is spread around the south side of the Koyoshi River, about 3km from the mouth of the Koyoshi River. There is a Honjo Marina beach at the mouth of the Koyoshi River, and the Sakata Highway (equivalent to current Route 7) stretches north and south along the coast. The central part of the city is the hilly area (Sasamori Hills), and the Honjo Road, the Yajima road (corresponding to the National Route 107 and 108) are connected to inland areas.
