Imabari City is a city located in the northeast of Ehime Prefecture. It is known for the production of shipbuilding and towels and yakitori. The population is the second largest in Ehime Prefecture following Matsuyama City, and the fifth place in Shikoku is second only to the location of each prefectural government.
By the Nishi-Seto Expressway (Shimanami Kaido), Hiroshima Prefecture and Onomichi City, and some islands are connected by a bridge with Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture by the Aki-Nada Islands Contact Cross-linking (Tobishima Kaido). Since it was an important point of maritime transportation in the Seto Inland Sea, before the Heian period, the Japanese nationalist government was placed, and the Edo period developed as a castle town of Imabari.
