Akamura is a village located in the eastern part of Fukuoka Prefecture. It belongs to Tagawa County, and it is one of the municipalities which compose Chikuho.
It is one of only two villages in Fukuoka Prefecture (the other is Higashi-Minemura). Located in the eastern part of Fukuoka Prefecture and the east end of Chikuho, Chikuho and Kyo-built in the inland mountains, it is approximately 40km from Fukuoka City, about 30km from Kitakyushu City to the south, and 20km from Yukuhashi City to the southwest.
