Kanazawa City is the capital of Ishikawa prefecture, located almost in the center of Ishikawa Prefecture. Former Ishikawa and Hebei counties.
It was designated as a core city on April 1, 1996. In the Edo period, except for the Edo shogunate (referred to as about 800 Wanshi), it prospered as a castle town of the Kaga clan ("Kaga Hyakumangoku") which koku the maximum of 1,020,005 Sengoku of the daimyo, and it was a large city lined with Nagoya next to three capitals of Edo, Osaka, and Kyoto in the population scale.
