There are many natural leisure and sightseeing facilities such as the shallow beach and the night Koshiyama ski area which is the swan's flying ground in the summer night. The origin of the name Hirauchi is said from Pila Nye of the Ainu language. Pila mean the cliff, and Nye means the river.
