The north is a mountain village in Toyama Prefecture and the west bordering Ishikawa prefecture. Shirakawa Village is a mountain village which is separated from Ishikawa prefecture by both White Mountains where Hakusan is main peak, and the north is separated from the Gokayama mountain in Toyama Prefecture by the Doll Mountain. The forest occupies 95.7% of the area of the village, and it is a feature that there are a lot of steep places. The Shogawa flows to sew between the mountains, and it continues to the Nanto city in Toyama Prefecture adjacent to the north.
