Minamisatsuma City is a city located on the west coast of Satsuma Peninsula, Kagoshima Prefecture.
At the end of the Pacific War, the final mission of the fleet and Mansei airfield were on Fukiage beach.
Today, it is also known for its distinctive town-building that utilizes dunes and bicycles, including sand festivals using dunes and various competitions held by bicycles. Located on the southwest end of the Satsuma Peninsula, facing the East China Sea. In the northwest part of the city, Fukiage Beach is counted as one of the three major sand dunes Japan, and the beautiful RIA-style coast is seen from the southwest (former Kasasa town to former Bonotsu town).
Bonotsu's twin-sword stone has been designated a National scenic spot.
