Genkai town is located in the northwest part of Saga Prefecture, and belongs to Higashimatsuura-gun. Currently, it is the only municipality that constitutes Higashimatsuura-gun.
Street originates from "Genkai" which is an alias of Genkai nada.
The population is the least of all the cities in Saga Prefecture. Located on the west side of the Higashimatsuura Peninsula, about 60km west of Fukuoka City, about 50km northwest of Saga City, it faces the Genkai nada from the north side of the town to the west. The central area is in the interior of the central part of the city.
