Kita Yamamura is a village in Higashimuro-gun, Wakayama prefecture. It is the only municipality in the Japan which is surrounded by Nara Prefecture and Mie Prefecture while belonging to Wakayama Prefecture, and the ground of the prefecture unit is an area as it is.
It is located in the mountains of the southern part of Kii Peninsula.
It became the only village in Wakayama prefecture as a result of the great merger of Heisei and other villages disappearing.
It is a village with little population after Okawa village of Tosa-gun in Kochi Prefecture excluding the remote island.
