The city of Namekawa is located in the eastern part of Toyama Prefecture.
Known as the city where many Hotaru are landed, the coastal Hotaru is designated as a special natural monument of the country. It once flourished as a post town on the Hokuriku Highway. Access to Uozu City, the central city of Toyama City and the Uozu city area, is relatively good, and in recent years there has been a growing number of beds in town, and the population has tended to be few in the prefecture.
