Rifu town is located in the central part of Miyagi prefecture and is a town belonging to Miyagi County. It is located in the Rifu district adjacent to the northeast of Sendai City, and is connected to Sendai City Central area by the line (branch of Tohoku Line) and Miyagi Prefecture Road No. 8 Sendai Matsushima Line (aka Rifu Road). It is a new bed town in the Sendai metropolitan area, and it is one of the commercial nucleus of the Rifu district by the commercial accumulation centering on the Aeon Mall.
In addition, it has respect of the traffic hub which passes by Rifu Highway and the expressway which goes out toward Matsushima. Shinbiyo town's catchphrase is "Flap young Rifu dreaming full of Dreams."
