Kusu belongs to county. It is located in the mid-west of Oita Prefecture, and the whole is mountainous. Many of the towns have been designated as ASO-Kugaku National Park. The main station is Bungo Nakamura station on the JR Kyushu Kyudai Main Line, and the nearest station is the Obiji station of the main line.
