Yufu City is located near the center of Oita Prefecture.
It is a tourist city with the famous Yufuin Onsen as a hot spring resort, while also serves as a bed town in Oita City. Yufu City is located almost in the center of Oita Prefecture, in the northern part of Mt. Yufu, Mt. Jogaku, and the southern part of Mt. Kurodake, Hanemure Mountain and Tokiyama. The accumulation is in the vicinity of the topography formed by the Oita River which flows through the central part of the city, and has the center of former Hasama town in the former Shonai town, the downstream and plains part of former Yufuin town and the Middle River Terrace in the Yufuin basin in the source vicinity.
