Yamomachi is a town in the eastern part of Kumamoto Prefecture and belongs to Kamimasusuku County.
The Yagaku Matsuri and the Junjun Bridge which are held on the first Saturday and Sunday of September are famous every year. It was born on February 11, 2005, with the merger of Yabe Town, Seiwa Village, and Aso-gun Soyo-cho. It is one of the few towns in Kumamoto Prefecture that reads "Chou" instead of "Machi" with Asagiri Town and Hikawa town.
