Toyokawa City is a city located in the east Mikawa of Aichi Prefecture. It develops from the temple town of Toyokawa Inari (1 Toyokawa-cho, Toyokawa City) and has the special zendo of the Soto sect. The origin of Toyokawa (Toyokawa) of the city name is Toyokawa Township in Hoi County, Ritsuryo period. Although there are many municipality names with "Yutaka" in Aichi Prefecture, the oldest one can be confirmed from the Mokkan of the eighth century in this Toyokawa city.
