Located at the southern end of Ibaraki prefecture, near the center of the Kanto Plain, the distance from central Tokyo is about 50km. The northeastern part of the town is surrounded by rivers in the River Tone, the eastern part of Edogawa, Gongen Dokawa and Nakagawa. The neighboring municipalities are the five municipalities of Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture, Satte City, and Noda City, Chiba Prefecture.
The only municipality in Ibaraki prefecture, the entire town is located on the right bank of Tonegawa (south), is also known as the starting point of Edogawa.
