Hitachi Omiya City is a city located in the northwestern part of Ibaraki prefecture.
On October 16, 2004, Naka-gun Omiya-machi, Naka-Koriyama town, Miwa Village, Ogawa Village, Higashi-Ibaraki prefecture, and municipal, and the merger with the Imperial Yamamura, and the Hitachi Omiya City. The reason for the name changed is to avoid confusion with Omiya City (now northern Saitama City) which existed in Saitama Prefecture before. The name "Omiya" of the city is derived from the shah and the beetles shrine located in the old Omiya town downtown.
