Takahagi City is a city located in the northeast part of Ibaraki Prefecture.
It has flourished since the Meiji era as a coal mine town, but now wood processing has become a center. The East faces the Pacific Ocean and the city is on the coastal plain. The West is a part of the low Taga Mountains, and most of the area of the city is in this mountain range.
From the mountains to the sea, there are three rivers of Kitagawa, Sekine and the river, and the downstream of the large Kitagawa enters northern Ibaraki city.
