Hitachi City is a city located in the northeast part of Ibaraki Prefecture. Most of the city limits are in the former Taga County, Kuji County.
It is known as the place of the establishment of a General Electric appliance manufacturer and Hitachi. Since the Kanto Plain is the northern end of the Kuji River (the boundary between Hitachi City and Tokai village), it is sandwiched between the East Pacific and the Taga Mountains on the west side, and a slender residential area stretches north and south.
Many of the residential areas are occupied by the facilities of Hitachi and its related companies, so there are many housing areas that have been opened in mountainous areas.
